Don’t let your Gas go bad

Don’t let your Gas go bad

With gas powered cars, lawn mowers, chainsaws, motorcycles, atv’s it pretty inevitable that at some time your going to get bad gas. Gas starts to go bad in as little as 30 days. After 60 days it begins to effect your equipment.  How much it effects it depends upon the equipment and how sensitive it is. If you have ever had bad gas you can tell by the smell of it. Moisture begins to accumulate in it, a tarnish starts to build up in carburetors and the octane level begins to go down. All bad stuff and the worst part is having to take everything apart to clean it!  What if we could prevent all of this, well you can.

Use a Fuel Stabilizer. It can extend the life of your fuel for up to 2 years!  I think 12 months is more than enough to use up whats in your equipment. If your storing it for longer than a year you should be draining the gas out in my book.

While I use the Sta-Bil brand there are others. Briggs and Stratton sell it as does Lucas and Royal Purple to name a few.

Consider making the investment in fuel stabilizers, especially with any seasonal equipment you own. It will save you time and money.
